T-Rex Solutions, LLC raised $14,000 during a March giving campaign to raise funds for the Capital Area Food Bank as it works to meet the growing needs of DMV neighbors. Nearly 200 T-Rex employees raised more than $7,000 to support their community. The company announced a dollar-for-dollar corporate matching incentive to drive contributions, resulting in a $14,000 donation to provide much needed restock relief to the bank.

“Supporting our communities and neighborhoods is so important to us, and we saw food security as the place we could make an immediate impact during this challenging time,” said Valerie Utsey, T-Rex chief human resource officer. “The Capital Area Food Bank supports many Prince George’s County pantries and those of our workforce’s neighborhoods so our employees are very motivated to give.”

T-Rex has partnered with the Capital Area Food Bank for more than five years through volunteerism and donations. Corporate leadership decided it was time to step up its contributions during its community’s time of greatest need.

“Now more than ever, we need partners from across every sector in our region to ensure none of our neighbors experience hunger,” said Radha Muthiah, president, and CEO of Capital Area Food Bank. “Businesses like T-Rex – and their employees – are playing a critical role in keeping food available for the thousands of people hard hit by the effects of the pandemic.”

As more D.C. area residents are turning to the Capital Area Food Bank for help, calls from partner networks needing more food have tripled in recent weeks. Capital Area Food Bank is working to replenish its supply despite a decline in food donations.
